COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to financial accounting, emphasizing the accounting cycle and the preparation of financial statements. Students will learn to recognize, value, report, and disclose assets, liabilities, and equity, with no prior accounting knowledge required.
The course covers key concepts such as corporate governance, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and the accounting cycle. Students will develop the skills to record business transactions, prepare trial balances and financial statements, and analyze the impact of transactions on financial reporting. Additionally, students will engage in financial statement analysis to evaluate company performance.
This course serves as a foundation for more advanced study in Accounting II and III, where accounting principles and formulas are explored in greater depth.
